New Board Officers Elected
Jason Suelter was elected Board Chair. Suelter is a licensed civil and structural professional engineer with over 25 years of professional structural engineering experience. He joined the Board in 2020.
Brian Kelly was elected Board Vice-Chair. Kelly is a licensed architect and an associate professor of architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He joined the Board as the architecture education member in 2018.
Bruce Dvorak was elected Board Secretary. Dvorak is a licensed professional engineer and a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Dvorak joined the Board as the engineering education member in 2020.
Board Position Opening
NBEA has an opening for an architect member! Board members are appointed by Governor Jim Pillen. Interested architects must be:
- A U.S. citizen,
- A resident of Nebraska for at least a year,
- Engaged in the active practice of the design profession for at least ten years, and
- Licensed as an architect for at least five years.
To be considered, you must fill out an application on Governor Pillen’s website at https://governor.nebraska.gov/board-comm-req.

NBEA Lunch and Learn Webinar Series
The Board will be hosting a Lunch and Learn Webinar Series on Wednesday, March 27th at 12 pm (central). The Webinar will review the Board and when a licensed architect and/or professional engineer are required on projects. To register for the event, please click here.
NCEES PE Environmental Exam Survey
NCEES is seeking a cross-section of licensed environmental engineers to participate in an online survey for the PE Environmental exam. The survey will be open until May 5th. For access, please click here.
NSPE Scholarship Applications
Applications for the 2024 National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) scholarships are now live. This year, the NSPE Education Foundation will award a variety of scholarships for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. The application deadline for all 2024 scholarships is April 1st. Recently Resolved Compliance Cases
24.06 – Unlicensed Practice
Summary: A complaint was submitted alleging a licensed professional engineer was engaged in the unlicensed practice of architecture in a commercial project.
Action: Following an investigation, the Board voted to dismiss the complaint after sending a Letter of Caution addressing the unlicensed practice of architecture as described in Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 81-3442.
